Another Junkitz TOOOOT!
OK, so if the Honorable Mention wasn't enough, I got a call today from Junkitz that they want to purchase my 3D project for them to use as a class project. I loved my 3D project and I am simply thrilled to have it used by Junkitz. I wish I could post photos of it, but part of the contract is that I'm not allowed to post it anywhere. So you'll have to look for it when Junkitz uses it in their class.

Our little boy's official visit to Santa.
Did I really hear Santa promise to see if there was a horse in his bag? It had better be a toy horse, Santa!
On the cool side of things... I took the photo. The photographer that was at the official shoot let me borrow his flash remote so that his studio flash went off in conjunction with my camera. How cool is that! Now he had the primo place for his camera so he didn't get the drape in the background. But I didn't feel like invading his space too much in my quest for the perfect Santa photo. So here it is... the visit to Santa.

Junkitz Honorable Mention for me!
Kind of last minute, I entered the Junkitz design team competition. The funny thing is that I had never used a Junkitz product until I went to the CK Scrapbooking Convention in Bellevue last month. I had signed up for the Prima Flowers class. And when I went to it on Thursday night, it was cancelled. So I was offered my money back or I could sign up to take any class offered that night that wasn't full. Since I had paid for the ferry, a hotel room and had nothing else to do and the Junkitz class was available, I traded into that. I figured I'd check out their stuff and see what it was all about. I had heard the "roar" about the Design Team Competition on 2Peas, but I haven't made it a habit of entering contests where you have to buy their product to compete.
I took the class presented by Teresa Collins. And I loved it. The only thing I wish was that I had brought all the supplies that we needed to complete the project. But since I wasn't planning on taking the class, I was missing a few things so the class project that I did was only part way completed. I really enjoyed the way Teresa taught the class. I loved the project, and I realized when working with the products that they were really right up my alley and definately fit my scrapbooking style.
The next day, I bought a bunch of Junkitz products and when I got home I went online and tracked down the Designer Draft Competition and sent in my entry a couple weeks later.
And how fortunate was that... It makes me believe in destiny. If the Prima Flowers class hadn't been cancelled. I would have never taken the Junkitz class. And I would never have entered the contest.
Here is a link with the results to the contest, complete with the pages that we created.

Good Scrapbooking Week!
So a couple days ago I got a call from Creating Keepsakes Magazine requesting a layout that I had submitted to them. It will be in the Reader's Gallery section in the April CK Magazine. This is my first time in Creating Keepsakes, and I couldn't be more excited. Having something published by them was really one of my goals this year and I'm happy to have achieved it before the end of the year.
And then, today I received an email from Digital Scrapbook Magazine requesting one of my favorite Winter Scrapbook Pages. So all in all this has been a really awesome scrapbooking week! This is my second time in DS Magazine.

Comfort
On cold winter days, what is a dog to do when they don't have any fur? They move closer to the fire and cuddle up on their pillow and shiver. And they look pitiful enough that mom goes out and buys them a pair of pajamas to wear.
Kishi has battled hypothryoidism and allergies for the past 5 years. We have done the whole holistic routine trying to make her feel better and finally resorted to allergen shots. Once we moved from Arizona to Washington, she got a little better, and for a year she had a glorious thick coat - the way it should be. But alas, the allergies are back now that she has become allergic to the plants up here. And she stays bald pretty much all year. So along comes winter, a season we didn't have to deal with in Arizona, and the little dog looks like she's freezing most of the time.
She loves her new clothes.

Sunrise
This morning there was a beautiful sunrise. As I stood at the bus stop waiting for the school bus to pick up J, I watched as it illuminated the sky. So as soon as the bus pulled away, my friend E and I rushed over to the waterfront to snap some pictures. E has been visiting us for the past few days and today was her last day here. I hope she had as much fun here as I had with her being here. (Hi E!)
Anyway, here's the photo of the day.

Sunrise, Sunset
Darkness has fallen on the Pacific Northwest. This time of year the sun rises at 7:42 AM and the sun sets early at 4:18 PM. And the hours in between are cloudy and grey. I seem to overhear many people talking about visiting San Diego and Arizona this time of year looking to see what lies beyond the clouds.
I was on the ferry today and took a sunset shot of Seattle from Elliot Bay...

Lost tooth
Missing: my son's first tooth
Wanted: my son's first tooth
It fell out last night as they were walking back to Grandma's after watching the town's holiday festivities. Lost in the vicinity of Santa Claus on the Fire Engine.
If anyone finds a small white tooth, good condition, only used for 5 years, please tell the tooth fairy to send it home to me so I can add it to his scrapbook page.

It's SNOWING!
It's SNOWING! It hasn't started sticking to the ground yet, but it definately is snowing. It's always exciting to see the first snowfall of the year. I was really trying to get some nice snow photos, but the snow was falling faster than the shutter speed on the camera, so the snowflake blurred a little. If anyone knows of a way to catch the snowflakes as round little balls in the photo instead of streaks, I'd love to know about it.

It's sticking...
