Another fantastic 4th of July

Yesterday we headed to the BBQ and party that the Downtown Association was putting on. It was fun but we noticed that prices for the rides went up quite a bit from last year. They required you to buy tickets. Each ticket was $1. Most rides were 2 or 3 tickets, but there were several that were 4 and 5 tickets. The rides weren't much to talk about - they were all the bouncy castle type rides. So we thought they were a little overpriced. But how can you resist the face of a child who really wants to do all of them. $40 later, he was fairly worn out.

The BBQ was different this year too. And not nearly as good for the price. We tried the new Bainbridge BBQ sandwhich, waiting in line for about 30 minutes to get it. It was OK, but last years pork BBQ from T&C was much better. We've become BBQ snobs. At several events we've had Mike's BBQ which is still our local favorite for events like these. T&C was offering terriaki chicken skewers, hamburgers and hot dogs. There wasn't a line at all at the T&C booth. But the food just wasn't that inviting.

Next year I think we'll check out the Poulsbo pre-fourth events. At least they have fireworks.

Today was much better. I walked in the Parade with one of the puppies that I bred last January. Tomo just celebrated his 6 month birthday. Just like his mother in previous years, he charmed the crowd. What a great test of temperament!

The arts and crafts booths were nice. The food booths were busy but very tasty. And the highlight of the day was the parade. I almost think there were as many people walking in the parade as were watching. But whether you were in the parade or on the sideline, it was a blast.
